My coaching has grown organically from my artistic life. For decades I have been focused on writing, recording and performing as an independent artist, while my work as an English language teacher grew in parallel - as a stable, grounding path that allowed space for creativity, and supported family life.
For the last decade I have had the great fortune to work with lovely humans in France, in all kinds of fields, from photography to marketing, leadership to management, and I found myself making a subtle shift from English teacher to language coach, increasingly supporting others — helping them find their voice, shaping their communication skills, and more recently helping them reconnect with their creative instincts.
I now guide ambitious professionals, leaders and creatives through transformative coaching. All of this can be quite fluid, but I break it down into 3 different approaches; one-to-one coaching, masterclasses and workshops.
I love helping people move towards a fuller realisation of themselves - it feels like a very human and enormously rewarding thing to do.
HOW WE CAN WORK TOGETHER
1:1 COACHING
Focus on your personal development, clarity, and creative writing.
My coaching will give you an opportunity to focus on your personal development, and explore your language skills, clarity, and creativity. The Sessions can be tailor-made to students looking to improve their English overall, or native English speakers looking to develop creative writing skills (with a special focus on songwriting). Sessions are held either online or in person - if you are happy to travel here to the farm! My schedule is full at the moment, but feel free to drop me a line below and let me know what your needs are.
MASTERCLASSES
From a blank page to the stage: the process of songwriting from scratch.
This masterclass was given in Theatro Circo in Braga, Portugal, before my last concert there, and focused on my song The Magic Is You. Masterclasses are targeted at small groups, and in an hour or two I take the group through the process of starting a song from scratch, to writing, recording and arranging - and then performing it with a full band on the stage. If you let me know with enough advance warning, I can plan a masterclass around any of my songs.
WORKSHOPS
An interactive exploration of stories, poetry, and myth.
This workshop was organised by my friend, and collaborator Gillian Eilidh O’Mara, and delivered in her lovely house in Bishop Auckland. The workshops are much more interactive and hands on, often using one my own songs as a starting point, looking at songs of different styles we all love, looking at stories, poetry and myth, and then having a go at writing a song of our own, either individually or together. The structure and duration of the workshops are flexible, just get in touch and let me know your idea!
