PRESS RELEASE

THE HUNTER’S MOON

“A reminder of the soul‑healing magic of song.”

New single by Sandy Kilpatrick | Out Sunday October 25th, 2026

Scottish songwriter Sandy Kilpatricks upcoming single, ‘The Hunter’s Moon’, will be given its worldwide premiere on Guy Garvey’s Finest Hour, on BBC Radio 6 Music. The song is a nocturnal folk meditation shaped by a storm, and the quiet power of the Natural world. It is his first release in over a year, and it marks a deepening of the elemental, atmospheric songwriting that has been drawing increasing acclaim across the UK and Europe.

Kilpatricks recent work has unfolded in a slow, deliberate manner. His winter single, Mesmerised, expanded on the more contemplative side of his writing, praised for its “magical and enchanting sound” (Berlin on Air) and “masterful storytelling” (AKT Music). Critics highlighted the warmth and emotional gravity of his voice, and the way the song balanced stillness with quiet urgency.

He followed it in March last year with ‘The Spark, a track celebrated for its cinematic sweep and emotional lift. Guy Garvey called it “endlessly romantic and beautiful,” while Itʼs All Indie praised its “soaring vocals” and “stadium‑ready ambition.” Reviewers across Europe described the song as uplifting, celestial, and transcendent, with Gabriel Mazza describing Kilpatrick himself as “… a hidden treasure”.

‘The Hunters Moon’ continues this evolution. Written on Kilpatrickʼs farm in northern Portugal, the song emerges from a night of thunder, jasmine in the air, dogs running through the trees, and rain hammering the roof tiles. It is a song rooted in lived experience, a moment of wild weather, carefully tended land, and overflowing emotion, all converging beneath October’s full moon.

It is a song rooted in lived experience, a moment of wild weather, carefully tended land, and overflowing emotion, all converging beneath October’s full moon.

The lyric centres on a simple, repeated invocation: the voice of Mother Nature promising to hold you close. Its a refrain that feels both ancient and immediate, a mantra that gathers strength as the storm clears and the night opens.

Kilpatricks journey between the streets of East Kilbride and the quiet pace of rural Portugal has shaped a body of work that feels both grounded and expansive. With The Hunter’s Moon he has given us a beautiful uplifting piece of music that’s a reminder of the wonder of the natural world, the importance of living in the moment, and the mysterious, soul‑healing magic of song itself.
