UPCOMING RETREATTHE INNER LANDSCAPE RETREAT
Song of The Sea
A one day creative retreat in Portugal
Sunday 5th July 2026
10:00 — 18:00
Song of the Sea is a one‑day Inner Landscape Retreat inspired by the emotional world of the song: a world of ruined palaces, global insurrection, and the longing to be led into a world that loves us.
Held on the farm in the height of summer — when the land is warm, the air is still, and the imagination naturally turns toward water — this retreat explores the sea as a symbol of refuge and relief.
It is a day for exploring the mythic scale of your own inner landscape the part of you that dreams in images of expansive Nature, seabirds, and starlit nights — and the intimate scale of your own longing, fear, courage, and desire for belonging.
No musical experience is required. Only openness, curiosity, and a willingness to listen.
What You Will Experience
THE SEA AS A GATEWAY
We begin with a welcome and introductions here in the tranquility of the farm. I will share some thoughts about the sea - it’s such great a source of inspiration, especially in the hot summer months. We will discuss sea shanties and listen to some of the songs that we love, and that have been inspired by the sea in some way.
THE EPIC AND THE INTIMATE
We explore the mythic imagery behind my own ‘Song of The Sea’, and enter a creative discussion, inspired by the seabird as guide, symbol, and compass. You will be encouraged to make some notes on your own thoughts and feelings, to encounter what needs to be said just below the surface of your own daily living. This will be followed by a simple lunch outdoors.
BEYOND THE HORIZON
After lunch, we move into a guided meditation back amongst the trees. We will visualise symbols of freedom, wide open space, endless horizon and the adventure that the sea so often represents. We will use this to create a verse, refrain, or spoken‑word piece—your own small sea‑song.
THE MAGIC TOUCH
To finish off the day we will be joined by a special guest - master musician, sound designer, producer and dear friend, João Robim. He will share his approach to harmony, and melody, and help us to create something of beauty with the song we have started to write.
